Choosing Accommodations

Choosing the right accommodation can make or break your vacation. You need a place that is comfortable; relaxing; tasteful and convenient. SO TAKE YOUR TIME TO CHOOSE.

After a long day of travel you need to be able to un-wind; stay rested with a good nights sleep and refreshed in the morning before you set off on another adventurous day.

One of my tips for you is to plan your travel early – the earlier you are the better the deals you could be privy to. Also travel is way cheaper during the off peak seasons if you are looking for a wallet friendly vacation.

Keep your options open to choose hotels or to use bed and breakfasts.

I find bed and breakfasts awesome if you are travelling solo or as a couple. Its a great place to to get to know your hosts and have a lovely home cooked breakfast before you start your action packed day.

There are numerous choices online to help with accommodation bookings. Just naming a few of the more popular ones are hotels.com; bookings.com; kayak; Agoda etc…

There are also sites like Trivago or HotelsCombined that help you compare the costs so you could choose wisely.

Another tip is to check online with the hotel website to see if there are any better deals available when you book directly with them.

If your trip takes you around or near the coast you should definitely stay in a beach home or cottage. Living on a beach or close to it can be a trip in itself – to wake up to the views and sounds of waves crashing on the shore, walking on the beach whenever your want, collecting unique sea shells or making sand castles on the beach.

To help me decide I usually use the below spreadsheet especially when there are multiple options to choose from. I look for additional little bonuses like airport transfers offered either free of charge or paid for; breakfast provided; parking available; wifi available etc. This helps making my decision easier.

Once I have made my choice I then delete the others or hide the rows so the same spreadsheet can be used during my travel as well. All my accommodation related details in one place for easy reference – you can customise it to your liking (maybe add the booking references in; add phone numbers for the hotels; maybe even add an image in – completely up to you). If the below sheet helps feel free to copy and use it.
